Recording Drums?
Hey Everyone! I have the m-audio Fast track. This device has 1 1/4" input and 1 xlr input. However, i would like to mic my drums and record them. (7 mics).
Is there a problem with plugging the mics into a mixer, then running the mixer into the 1 input of the Fast Track? What is the downside to this? If this is not a good idea, does anyone else have any other recommendations as to how i can record my drums? |

Re: Recording Drums?
Ideally you would have an interface with 8 inputs so you could record each microphone separately. This is the normal approach, it means you can then adjust the level / eq / effects / pan etc for each microphone afterwards.
But what you suggest is not impossible. You will only have a mono file of mixed drums, but so did The Beatles and they did ok..! I'd suggest doing a test recording, listen to what's wrong with it, fix what you can on your mixer and then try again. Good luck! |
