Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
I stand corrected. Free was extremely limited version of 5.1 so that would make sense. Just thought it was 6.1 when they dropped OS9 and adopted Windows

Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
No problem. The 001 was quite good for it's time. Fortunately I was only recording a voice track or two, which didn't stress the Intel Pentium 4 I originally had. Then an AMD Athlon X2 and Windows XP and a Digi 002, onward to a 4th Gen Intel Quad Core i7 and Windows 10 and an RME UFX. I've had very little issues over time, even when mixing a movie or reading to a video and its soundtrack with a producer on Zoom.
For any Windows users monitoring this thread, all the Avid Optimizations and the Processor Affinity Switch are ways to lean your computer and keep Pro Tools stable. Now back to the M2 channel :)

Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
Yea. Damn Apple, they should have built enough fully loaded models before launch. Ordered on launch day and still waiting...

Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
Audiomedia III also worked on Windows. If we're going back in history. This would have been late 90s, probably when v5 was new?

Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
Going through a box of junk last week I found an Audiomedia III card. I had a 001 with 5.31 I believe. I had a 6.x license at one time along with a Mix+ license and rig back in the day.

Re: Anyone try M2 yet?
I just tried it on a new Mac Mini M2 and it was a nightmare. I first tried 2022.9 and it refused to recognize my S1, even though EUCON was checked in Peripherals/Ethernet. I then tried 2022.12 and it stopped loading at Initializing MIDI Engine. I tried removing those files from the Library to see which MIDI device was stopping the load, and Pro Tools just plain refused to start, period.
I had to fire up the 2019 Mac Retina (running Ventura 13.1) to get back to work. Could be that the M2 updated to Ventura 13.2 when I started it up. But I'm sure I won't be the first and only not able to run PT in the new M2 Mini. |
