003 Rack Driver Issue
Hi, I was looking over the available driver downloads here : http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...02-003-Drivers
I am on Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4 And I noticed 003 driver version 11.0.0 says it does not support pro tools 10. Does this mean I cannot co install PT10 with PT 11 and have my 003 working with both? |

Re: 003 Rack Driver Issue
I believe that's correct. I read that one user was changing is drivers back and forth when he changed PT versions. He wasn't pleased at the extra install.
Perhaps the two drivers can be installed at the same time and selected in boot. I don't think that's possible now.

You can use PT10 and PT11 on the same machine and you can switch between PT10 and PT11 without rebooting. You'll just have to install both drivers. The 10.3.3 driver will appear as "DIGI 003" use this one in PT10s playback engine. The 11.0.0 driver will show up as "Avid 003". Choose this one in PT11. |

Re: 003 Rack Driver Issue
Well I went ahead and only installed the latest drivers (Version 11)
Everything works fine. I dont think installing 2 drivers is a good idea (even on mac) I see Avid 003 under playback for both PT10 and PT11. I also see Avid 003 in my control panel for mac. Also, I can share my mac system sounds, safari etc... with Pro Tools. Which is AWESOME! I think when avid says PT10 not supported they mean the control surface doesn't work. (maybe they should clarify it on the web page) Im just using a 003 Rack so the audio interface part works great! |

Re: 003 Rack Driver Issue
Now that is interesting!
It did not even occur to me to even try to co-install both drivers. I'm amazed that this driver co-install is not mentioned by Avid in the driver release notes or faq ... ... and a little disappointed that after I documented the woes involved in uninstalling one driver, rebooting, installing the other driver, and rebooting, which made co-install of PT10 and PT111 not the painless solution presented by Avid so far as 003 console owners are concerned, no one from Avid chipped in with any advice to install both drivers. I'll be trying this out later today and will report back. If two of us have it working, this might well be the solution. I'm still kicking my self for not thinking about installing both drivers, as they have different names ... duh

Re: 003 Rack Driver Issue
Yes, it's true ....
Keep the older V10 003 driver installed for use with PT10, and use the new V11 driver for use with PT11. Both drivers can remain installed at the same time. Just make sure you select the correct one in each version of PT, and you will have full control surface functionality active. Boy, do I feel stupid!

Re: 003 Rack Driver Issue
So I've installed the v11 driver and 003 won't show up as a playback device. What's worse is I tried finding a link for the v10 driver to do the ol' v11/v10 install switcheroo and the link for the v10 drivers seems to be broken. Is this not the correct link?
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...02-003-Drivers -Justin -EDIT - It appears I got caught trying to upgrade during the middle of Avid's weekend server maintenance and won't be able to get up and running again until the end of the day. Of course it had to be in the middle of a project too.
