Hey Pete,

Basically on the Scan Plugins page, where there could be hundreds of plugins and you're in the middle of the page checking versions etc. and you want to go to the top or bottom of the list instantly, without having to scroll up or down. Like in a regular Apple folder instant up and down function. Hope I've explained it right

Heya Pete,

I'm getting a 'Failed to Backup Settings' pop-up.

Files appear to have been backed up, but can't confirm this 100%.

Haven't notably changed any directories, etc..

Hi Trent,
Sorry, that's insufficient error reporting on my part. It's going to be a permissions problem on either the source file(s)/folders or the destination or a quota/disk full error. I'll try and implement more feedback on errors for the next release.

Cheers,
Pete

Hey Pete - thank you so much for this invaluable tool... This will sound a bit trite and minor - but for those of us who want to know that the action has been executed, would it be possible to give us an affirmative sign - a big green tick or something to let us know that everything has been done? At the moment, on my version anyway - you press trash and the screen blinks momentarily but leaves us without any surety that everything has been done. I know it is probably just myself and those of us who like things 'completed' - but it would be really nice to have closure!!

Totally agree,
I think the balance between not bothering the user and useful feedback has swung too much to the silence side in several areas. I'm looking at this for the next release. I was hoping to make a new release this weekend, not quite ready yet unfortunately.

Cheers,
Pete

PT Prefs 2.5.1 pre-release 1

This pre-release adds more error checking and a fix for version detection of triple-architecture plugins (such as those from DDMF). The main problem it's thrown a light on (due to the extra error checking) is that certain files now installed by the Pro Tools installer require elevated permissions to modify (some templates oddly are) and I'm not 100% sure how to best deal with this yet.

Cheers,
Pete

Pete, Maybe I have missed some important information, so apologize in advance.

Has the new plugin cache scheme (2023.12) been incorporated into PTPrefs2 yet? or did I miss a workaround in my ignorance?

Thank you so much for a great tool all these years!

Jeffrey

Hey Jeffrey,
What's this new plugin cache of which you speak?

Cheers,
Pete

They're referring to how Pro Tools builds its AAX plugin database cache when launching and loading newly added plugins. 2023.12 improved it so it doesn't crash PT at launch when there may be 200 newly installed plugins all at once for it to cache. I have no idea what PT Prefs would even have to do with the AAX plugin cache. Especially after the fact that the cache-crash issues is now solved (gone now are the days of having to rebuild that cache by booting in batches of 30 or so active plugins at a time).

AAX Plug-in Cache Improvements
  • Quicker launch when many plugins are first cached.
  • Fixed a crash that can happen during launch when many plugins are first cached.
  • If a crash occurs during launch, on the next launch the plug-in cache creation/update will pick up where it left off.
  • The cache has been moved to a shared user location so that it does not need to be generated separately for each user account on the computer.
