Couple of questions from a new user
Hi,
Couple of (probably easy) questions as I continue to learn PT: 1) Say I am using samples (like a kick) in a session - is there a way to have PT copy that sample file into the session folder (vs. pointing to the original on my HD)? I don't want to accidentally mess up the original and if I save this session to a DVD, I want to include the samples. 2) Say I have placed some drum samples on the grid, but then I want to change the tempo of the song. Is there a way to ensure the samples adjust to the new tempo? They are in sample mode, not tick mode - do they have to be in tick mode? Can I not use elastic audio in tick mode? Thanks! |

Re: Couple of questions from a new user
1) Do you have the option to copy all audio set in PT prefs?
2) Ticks is the way to go, and EA will work just fine with it.

Re: Couple of questions from a new user
Thanks for the quick reply James.
1) I can't seem to find this preference in Preferences or in the manual - where is it? 2) Thanks! I didn't know if EA was a requirement of ticks, but looks like it is not, so I think this is what I need. Thanks again. |

Re: Couple of questions from a new user
Preferences > Processing tab > Import section > Automatically Copy Files on Import tick box

Re: Couple of questions from a new user
Awesome - thanks!
One more issue I ran across - I have a mono sample on a track, but I want to add a stereo sample to that track - is there a way to make that track a stereo track? I created a new stereo track, but PT won't let me drag the sample to that new stereo track for some reason (it allows me to drag the sample to a duplicate track I created of the original mono track, but it seems to be a stereo track...it has a stereo effect on it and two pan knobs). Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: Couple of questions from a new user
It's not really a stereo track. It probably has a mono/stereo plugin on it which switches the mixer controls to stereo, but the actual track is still mono.
You can turn your mono sample to stereo like this: Consolidate the sample and name it xxx.L. Consolidate it again and name it xxx.R. Now these two file regions will pair in the regions bin and you can drag it as a stereo sample to a stereo track.
