001 A8N-SLI AMD 4200 freezes w/installing drivers

Hia, I've just decided to upgrade my 001 DAW by moving the it from my faithful 2600xp box to the 4200xp dual core machine I had.

I did a format, installed the mobo drivers, office (as my keys were in outlook), graphic drivers and then tried to install protools 6.4. Just after I've clicked okay to the compatibility warning the system completely freezes.
I have tried disabling the raid, onboard sound, any additional drivers etc.

The system has 2x IDE drives (a 120 and 250gb storage drive), and 2x SATA drives (1x raptor for windows, and a 250gb sata for music storage).

I need to try disabling the raid in the bios (I have version 13 and cant say I've noticed it) when I get home but I am not convinced this will work. Has anyone had any problems with this setup, or heard of this odd freezing.

Usually PT blue screens on me when it's unhappy about something, as opposed to freezing.

I look forward to any advice.
