Default Digi 003 OSX sound

Hello,

Could I please get some help with the following:

Previously to purchasing a 003. I had an mbox2 (usb) which allowed me to simultaneously use pro tools and other applications which require sound (quicktime player) for example.

With the 003 however, I am unable to have pro tools running and watch tutorials via quicktime or youtube. It says that the device or driver (something along that line) is in use.

I've installed the 003 drivers, family and midi.
The 003 is connected via firewire 800 and via optical cable (for OSX sound which seem doesn't work)

I've played around with the sound/midi aggregator settings to no avail.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Come out of your computer sound output to your 003 (1/8" stereo to Split 1/4"). You can select sound sources on the 003.

Thanks.

The computer is a mac pro.
firewire 800 from the mac pro to the 003.
Optical cable from the mac pro out to digital port (in) on the 003
Selecting the digital output on the sound settings for OSX sounds but they just don't play via the 003. I've selected the source on the 003 but still no sound.

Pro tools instruments are playing fine..

They're not going to, wrong digital format. Read Barry's reply again and do that.

I've had the same issue. Barry is right... he just didn't specify you need to use the Aux In on the 003.

(1/8" stereo to Split 1/4") <- I'm new to computer sound so I don't understand what this means.

I'm assuming some sort of Jack from the Mac pro to the 003? The mac pro only has firewire and optical outs.. I think

can you please link the cable you are referring to? or perhaps a diagram that I could follow?

Also, why can't sounds from both sources function as they did with the mbox2?

Thanks.

You need this[bleep]

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

And a couple of these

The 003 used to work simultaneously with other programs but the new driver doesn't work like that. My guess is that avid doesn't want to allow customer to aggregate 003 & 003racks.

Hi,

So that cable goes via the headphone jack on the macpro???
So basically, If I only use the firewire cable, I can only the either the 003 with pro tools or with OSX?
Meaning, I can't watch tutorials online and have pro tools running at the same time?

Also, I now manually have to launched the digi coreaudio manager to get the osx sound working...

Unfortunately Yeah it sucks. To have to use another cable to get system sounds while running PT. but "alt to 7/8" button is the workaround
