Default Who's Not Moving To 12.5?

I thought I'd try a different thread.

I'm not moving from 12.4 to 12.5 because of what I am reading on this board.

Are there any others waiting for the same reason or have switched back?

This isn't a complaint thread. Just trying to get a read of how other users are thinking about it.

Carl

Count me in. Happy with 12.4, and reading way too many 12.5 horror stories. Anyway, I'm in the middle of a major album project, and make it a policy to NEVER make a major change under these circumstances. Staying put til there's better news.,

I'm in the version 12.3.1. It works great in Windows 10.
12.4 have instability issues and 12.5 is no go.
I'm waiting for Avid to solve this or I became familiar with Studio One, what happens first...

I downloaded 12.5, but didn't install it because of all the problems I've been seeing early adopters experience.

I'm in the process of converting my whole drive system and will eventually have my system drive in my drive bay with a ghost drive as a working system to swap over to.

Eventually I won't be running Pro Tools any longer. It's way too cumbersome, bug-ridden, time consuming, and pricey for what it offers.

I've gone with Studio One and it's lightweight, fast, has tons of features, with many more coming and I can have several versions on my desktop to pick and choose which one I want to use at any particular time. And I don't have to be a beta tester for the company after I've shelled out the cash to use the product.

I'm also thinking of picking up Cubase 8.5 Pro.

FYI, this can be done with PT, but only on Mac. I do it all the time.

I keep trying each new release, but going back to 11.3. My advice to all is; try every release, but always(as in ALWAYS) have a backup plan. Mine is to clone my current system drive, install the clone and update. If it works great, then great. If it doesn't(and 12.5 doesn't for me), swap the old drive in and go back to work I went thru the same when 11 came out(kept going back to 10 until things worked for me).

Me.
HD12.3.1

I have 12.5 but haven't tested... Reading the What's New in PT12.5.pdf
Does not look attractive.
Maybe the New Refresh code of the Video Engine...
Maybe I will clone my SSD, and test 12.5.

+1

I bought Pro Tools 12 when it first came out, plus the subsequent Upgrade fee, to have Pro Tools 12.5 in my Avid account today.

I have never installed any version of Pro Tools 12.

I won’t install Pro Tools 12 while it means risking potential hearing damage to me and others.

I feel I may have been sold a product that appears to be “not fit for purpose”.

I could instantly transcend>forgive>forget, if Avid gave all purchasers of Pro Tools 12 a free copy of Pro Tools 12.6 - or whatever the number is, when the Noise Blasts issue has been properly fixed.

Installed 12.5 in addition to 12.4 , been testing a bit. Getting a few more out of cpu errors but Dverb test just a little worse than 12.4.

FWIW
12.5 for ~ a month now. Simple sessions with multiple video tracks - very little if any automation - mostly AVID, Waves, SoftTube plugins... no issues so far.

12.4 and noise blasts - will never go back to that one or an earlier 12 for that reason. I never had a noise blast and never wish to risk it. FWIW - ran 12 since release and still never had problems...
