pro tools 9 insert hardware???
i just installed pro tools 9 and its asking me to insert hardware when i try loading up the program? is that one of there preamps or what? please give some advice...

i bought it for myself it says
" unable to locate hardware. make sure your hardware is conncted. hit ok when the hardware is turned on" wtf does this mean do i need a preamp or waht? |

Well there's two schools of thought that I've heard people do each with a different way when they install ProTools for the first time.
First one is when it says connect hardware you actually hot plug the ProTools interface and it should recognize it then..... Or Just hit okay or bypass it and it should finish installing ProTools just fine.... then shut down your computer restart your interface and then restart your computer

Sounds like you need to install the drivers for your interface. With ptle they were installed automatically, but since they opened it up to 3rd party interfaces you now have to manually install. Even for avid interfaces. They should available on avid's site if you have an avid interface. If it's 3rd party you'll need to get them from the manufacturer's site.

i dont have a preamp but i have a behringer XENYX 802. do i need an interface or could i use pro tools with this? the mix has a record output/input. sorry for being a nub on this, trying to get my studio in order.

Not familiar with that mixer but it doesnt look to have any USB/FireWire outs. So yes you'll need some kind of interface/sound card.
