hardware insert with pro tools 9 motu 24 i/o
can someone please explain specifically how to use a hardware insert with pro tools 9?
when i play a click out through an analog output and into an analog input it does not line up. The delay seems to be 57 samples or on the min/sec clock 00:00:501. I have ADC enabled. The pcie 424 for the motu says the i/o latency is 8.33 milliseconds. the hardware buffer is set at 256. What number do i enter into the hardware insert delay tab? I keep reading to enable delay compensation on the input tab but i can't find this option. All i want to do is run tracks through an outboard compressor and have them be in phase with each other. I want to use parallel compression. |

Re: hardware insert with pro tools 9 motu 24 i/o
Turn on ADC: Options-> Delay Compensation.
Select a Delay Compensation Engine setting: Setup->Playback Engine and use the Delay Compensation Engine pulldown. Select Short or Long. See page 66 of the PT9 manual. Also see page 956. Enter you latency figures in the H/W Insert Delay tab of the I/O setup. See page 962 of the PT9 manual. These values are in milliseconds. If your box says the latency is 8.33 then enter 8.33 for the Insert Delays for each in/out pair you intend to use on the motu box. I'd probably then do a test as outlined in the manual to make sure things lined up. Put a H/W insert on a track and enjoy your outboard gear. See page 997 of the manual. |
