Default Pro Tools 7.4 Hardware Insert Question

Running PT 7.4 HD on Mac OS10.4
Using Digi 192 interface

Session 24bit 96K

I have a TC Electronic Reverb4000 on the AES/EBU bus.
I can use it as a lovely send/return reverb. But I tried to record some gated verbs onto Audio tracks via Hardware Insert technique. Mainly because HW's are delay compensated.

When using AES (aka [DigiEncl] in Hardware Setup) as an Hardware insert, Can I record the audio with the insert effects applied?

How I tried it:
(Audio Track) Track 1 Snare - assign output to Bus 1-2
(Audio Track) Track 2 Desired Gated Snare Audio Track - assign input Bus 1-2
Put outboard FX unit on Hardware Insert on Track 2 (in my case AES/EBU digital)

Currently only the raw audio is re-recorded. If I take the hardware insert FX off (in this case a gated reverb), the recorded audio is just the raw audio from Track 1 re-recorded.

What I currently do:
Is send my snare Track 1 to the AES hardware ouput. Record the AES input to an audio track. Then manually nudge the new track by my latency (100 samples) to the left.

Just wanted to stop having to do this.

Thanks,
Jason

Default Re: Pro Tools 7.4 Hardware Insert Question

Move the hardware insert from track 2 to track 1.

No ,, that's not how it works. The inserts behave exactly like plugins. Top Jimmy has the answer ...
