Macros in Monterey

Has anyone successfully used the Shortcut app to create a macro?

Until recently I was still using Quickeys to run macros for Beat Detective. It automates the whole process and saves loads of time. I have since setup shortcuts for bringing up certain audio suite plugins, but not seen how to make a macro.
