Default I move the mouse too quickly, so it seems! 7.2TDM

Hello everyone!

Many thanks for answering my ProControl questions. This next one is about 7.2 TDM.

In the edit window, when I select a point in the timeline and move right or left, PT seems to think I'm selecting! It's automatically highlighting the wavs, VERY annoying.

I know it's some sort of "improvement" but I have a lot of wav cleaning and it makes me move the mouse around a lot, and this is SLOWING me down.

Can I disable this new function and HOW? Anyone?

BTW, I'm running PT 7.2 on Mac OSX.

Thanks for your time

Ray in Montreal.

I don't think this is a feature, but that your mac is slow when this happens.

We have that from time to time, as well. But when it happens here, I notice that the mac is slow in general, so maybe your session is full of plugs, or your movie is big/long, which causes your mac to work slowly.

Hope this helps,

Timothy

happens to me all the time... I hate it... I thought it was because of mighty mouse... It has nothing to do with cpu speed as it also happens on my mac book pro 17" and that is screaming fast and it dont happen in other applications

This was happening to me, only when using video, only when using MPEG4. Using other video (motion-jpeg) solved this for me.

Is it possible this is a problem with the mouse communicating with a Mac? Perhaps a faulty mouse? A battery powered mouse that has a battery running down? Too long of a distance between a wireless mouse and the receiver? Or, if hardwired, are you using any extenders that might be flaky or faulty? Are you using straight USB cables that are too long for the USB spec? Try testing with a different mouse plugged directly into the computer.

Has nothing to do with PT or the CPU ....... its OSX. I been saying since the beginning OSX is a real dog when it comes to speed. OS9 felt at least twice as fast. Try working fast in the finder (Changing file names, moving, selecting etc.) and you will see what I mean. OSX is great for a lot of things, but speed is not one of them. Right now we are on the curve where the hardware has to catch up to the software. Maybe that has happened with the new intel macs, I haven't tried one and won't for a while to come. (still on 2gig G5). Maybe a 4gig Intel Mac on OSX will "feel" like the speed we had on a fast OS9 computer........ Maybe.

Same here! With MP4 video... what a nightmare. Same picture as DV-PAL and everything run smoothly.
