The SampleCell Editor Version 3.0 for Macintosh is now available as a free download from the Digidesign website for owners of SampleCell II PCI or SampleCell II Plus PCI cards. System Requirements (as tested) are listed, along with the links to the SampleCell Addendum Manual and Read Me documents. (included with the application in the download)

Congratualtions, it's been four years and we have an update ;-) All sarcasm aside I am grateful to know that there's hope that Samplecell may still have a future. Let's hope it isn't another 4 years of wondering.

I was so disappointed.

Yes stereo samples and 24 bit support.

But I did hope for a better interface. It is so hard to put drum sounds in one on each key, a zoom type function would have been good.

Rumour has it the Soft Sample Cell got a new interface. We paid the money for the hardware, do we have to buy the soft crap to get a decent editor?

No..Softcell has the same interface with Filter resonance added. I am curious to know how the old hardware is suddenly able to playback 24bit files. I didn't think this was possible to do with software alone.

It can open Banks and instruments containing 24 bit audio files. 24 bit audion is converted to 16 bit depth on the SampleCell II card using a propriety Digidesign Dither ... ( for maximum sound quality ).

That's what the Addendum vers 3.0 says.

Thanks Kev...I suppose SSC plays 24 bit if the hardware supports it...cool

Digi,

Any chance of a litty witty PC editor upgrade to allow us to read / import / convert / manually update / anything version 1 bank or instrument files?

Still haven't found a workaround for this litty witty issue. Used Awave, recycle, ozmosis etc. to no avail.

Let us know if this is planned in the near future.
