Default Effects delay on tracks

Ok,
How do I compensate for delay when I have effects on the vocals tracks pre fader example if I use a big effect and it gives me a reading of 3231. (in green in the mix board of the vocal track)
what do I so that I can sing along in real time.

Why are you using effects while tracking? What plugin are you using that is giving you so much latency?

I'm using something like a pitch shifter. Do you know of any good auto tuners (not antares)
thanks

Could you be a little more specific? Which plugin specifically? (I asked for a reason, y'know ) Something like?

Either way, a "pitch shifter" or "auto-tune"-like plugin, is not something you want to be using while tracking. Plugins like that are meant to be used after you have recorded the parts; during mixing. If you need to do additional tracking over an effected track, you should print the effect to track.

If you want a great "pitch correction" software, I can recommend Celemony Melodyne. It is by no means "automatic" and can not really be used like you are trying to use it, but as I mentioned, you shouldn't be anyway. It's not even recommended to run Antares Autotune in real time; you should always process the actual track.

I've already given you the answer to that question; print the effect to track.

Yes, you can nudge the audio back in time by the amount of latency being produced. That will not help you if you are trying to use the plugin on live input.
