Whoa, I had a bad dream - it was was that Digidesign owned the world and thats I had to learn to be an expert Icon user "or else"!!!???

Perhaps a conservative approach might work best, by limiting purchases to the gear just neccesary for getting your projects done. I haven't bought the 16 channel extensions for my D-command yet, even through it can get 40 channels with PT 8. But I can still record all the work needed. Thus, I avoid your nightmare.
