I just called them the other day, and actually got to speak to Colin himself (always a nice surprise!). The basic thing that's holding up the 6030, as well as the new versions of Classic Pack, is the whole Ilok issue that happened recently. I don't know the details, but apparently someone cracked the code for Ilok and it was no longer secure and Ilok has been revamping their system. So some manufacturers have had to hold off releasing some new products.

Supposedly, this will hopefully be resolved by September.

Ah, thanks very much. Always nice to hear it from the horses mouth, huh? I've never heard anything but great things about Colin.

I was curious about the release because I had been thinking about getting Compressor Bank LE in the PS bundle, but thought maybe I'd hold off and maybe get the 6030 instead. Do you have any thoughts on that?

Thanks.

I have compressor bank, but was thinking I would sell it (after I upgrade it to the new version 2 when it comes out). I wasn't really able to get a definitive answer from Colin about the differences between the 2. Basically it sounded like the 6030 was them starting from scratch with the new technology in plugin development, whereas compressor bank is several years old. So it sounds like 6030 will be obviously better (plus include some emulations not found in compressor bank). But they still plan to keep selling and supporting compressor bank. Maybe they won't quite sound the same and some people will still like the sound of compressor bank better.

It reminds me of why Waves still makes the L1 limiter, after they came out with the L2/L3. I think some people still like the sound of the L1 for certain things. I've noticed it has a tiny bit more aggressiveness to it vs. the others.

So maybe it will be the same type of thing with 6030 vs. compressor bank.

By the way, my wanting to sell it has nothing to do with the 6030 coming out. I just found that I was using other plugs more.

Thanks. One more q. What kind of advantages, if any in your opinion, are there to getting the full CB as opposed to CB LE (LE only has CB 4, the seven models and doesn't have CB's 1, 2 and 3)?

I assume you've already looked at the comparison chart:

http://www.mcdsp.com/index.php?optio...ons&Itemid=163

I have not gotten deep enough into the program to really understand the differences, though.
