Default Making a stereo track out of a mono source

Hi I am hoping there is a simple answer to my problem.
I am trying to thicken my mono recorded vocal by making a stereo audio track and then duplicating my mono vocal track and then option/control copying and dragging the now two mono tracks into the newly created empty stereo track.
All of the above works fine until I tray to play back the newly made stereo track....there is no sound and the audio in the newly made stereo track looks muted but is not muted. I hope you can help.
Regard
Peter

First of all, what you're attempting to do will not do anything except make the vocal louder. Two identical copies of a file will simply sum together, perfectly in phase, and be louder.

What you want to do is leave the original vocal alone and create a traditional Aux Send/Rtn and apply some time/pitch based effects in parallel. You could try Doublers, micropitchshifting each side of the signal (+9 and -9 is the classic setting from the Eventide H3000 from the 80s), chorus and flange applied judiciously might help as well.

The Eventide H3000 plugin has some presets that will do the job with maybe a little tweaking. Just be careful not to go too far or it will sound more comical than thick.

Just sing it again. And again. And again.

"I got you, babe....." (Seriously, though, it's very common for us to lay down each part 3 or 4 times.)
