G4 ...Yamaha 8424 CRW...Adaptec 2930u

I know this is not directly related to Digi001 so bear with me. I have the G4 500mhz working great with the Digi001. Yes I had to wait 15 mintues to put the Auth code in after Mac looked hung. So now I bought a Yamaha 8424 external CDRW and the Adaptec 2930u. CDRW came with Toast, Jam is on order for Red-Book Compat. I installed the 2930 and hooked the CDRW to it (SCSI ID#1). Used a HD50 M-M. Card shows up in Adaptec SCSI Probe sw (SCSI ID#7). CDRW name and model shows up also in the SCSI Probe. CDRW does not show up on desktop and does not work. I have no other SCSI stuff.

Any ideas?

When I stick a CD in the DVD-RAM an icon pops up on the desktop. I assume if things are working I would see my CDRW there also.

I'm new to the MAC world and thank everyone for their help.

I tryed to mount the device through SCSI Probe and that failed with a logical units error.

Ideas?

I think it's normal.
If you want to mount a CDrom from your Yamaha 8424S, just open toast and key in Apple-M

Thanks kickin.da.speaker! It appears to be normal when toast was loaded. I'm still cleaning the Windows 95,98,NT (mind control) paradigm out of my brain. Off to work on some music...
