Default Assigning inputs all at once instead of one by one

When creating audio tracks how do I assign them to all be created with the same input?
For example: I use the apogee ensemble, it has 8 inputs so when I create 5 mono audio tracks it will be be created like.
Track 1- input one
Track 2- input two
Track 3- input three
And so on. I record vocals through input 5. How can I get it to input all tracks and have inputs already set to input 5?
Thanks

Hold down the option key while assigning the input to one of the tracks. Doing this will assign that input to all the tracks at the same time. This applies to most things in Pro Tools. The option key is like executing a 'do to all' command.

Nice^^^^^. Then there's the Shift-Option which does the same command to all SELECTED tracks. Or you might consider either creating a template session with a bunch of vocal tracks created, assigned and named(like LeadVox, BGV1, BGV2, BGV3.....)

...then there's the command-option which sets I/O sequentially down the list. VERY handy.

You can also assign more than one output to any one particular track by holding down the 'Control' key while selecting the additional output. When two outputs are assigned on the same track, a little plus sign (+) appears in front of the output button's label (which is labelled w/ the first output you selected). When you hold down the output button (like when you go to select an output), it'll show a checkmark next to the currently selected outputs for that particular track.

Then there's the ever-popular (popular with me, anyway!) duplication of a track. Once I have inputs/outputs/plug-ins/sends that I want in place, I highlight one or more of the same tracks, right-mouse click and select 'Duplicate'. Then a pop-up will query if you want the duplicates to have the same automation, etc. You can then check and uncheck from the laundry list. Even if you already have audio on the tracks, it's easy to erase the duplicates.

Like Albee sez, the beautiful thing about digital is there are 4 ways to do everything; the downside to digital is....
