Digi 001/PT LE G4 500 Problems!
I just swapped out of my G3 350 My 001 stuff and put it in my new G4 500. I have not been able to open Pro Tools as of yet. I had to remove my Adaptec UW scsi card because it is apparently not compatible with the G4, bummer since it was not cheap and it is the card that Digidesign has been recommending for a while now. Now I am stuck with an error that says "Unable to create a DAE deck" Nothing I have done has helped, if anyone is running an 001/PT LE on a G4 500 I would appreciate some advice on system setup, and the like. thanx

Re: Digi 001/PT LE G4 500 Problems!
The link http://www.digidesign.com/compato/macos.html
has this written at the bottom Special Notes for OS 9.0 users: Pro Tools 5.0 and DAE/DSI 5.0 or higher is required with Mac OS 9.0. I have been in contact with other G4 500 users and they aren't having troubles. I am getting ready to install the 001 in one now. I'll let you know if I have troubles. |

Re: Digi 001/PT LE G4 500 Problems!
I don't have a G4 500, I have a 400 but I had the same problem you had, not being about to create a DAE deck. What is means is that the compuer is not seeing the card, that was the problem I had. You are the third person to have this problem. What you can do is try reseating the card. Also see if you computer is seeing the card. What you can also do is look in the ADAT O/I input and see if there is a green light. Tech support told me if the card was working correctly there should be a green light. I hope this helps. Bottom line though if you are still having problems contact tech support. They have yet to give a straight answer on this. My card was replaced. Again Digi is there a problem you are not telling us about? Let my know how thing work out, so far the only way I have seen to fix this problem is to replace the card. I don't think I am making any friends at Digi.

Re: Digi 001/PT LE G4 500 Problems!
I am running digi001 and a MAC 500. I did have a small problem during the install. The screen froze before I got to the authorization page the first time I opened Pro Tools. I thought I had done something wrong, and even reseated that card and re-installed the software.
After scoping around the Digi001 web site, I found info that stated the screen may freeze for up to an hour, although the mouse will remain active. They advised letting it sit there, and the problem would cure itself. About 15 minutes later, the screen un-froze" and I entered the auth. code. I have had no problems since. The software has worked great with my 500 and OS9. (256 megs of ram) Well... just wanted to mention this, in case you run into this after getting your card situation straightened out. Good Luck. ------------------ TheBoyElf

Same proble with first time running of PT LE on 400 Mhz AGP G4. 15 minutes waiting for authoritation window.
And Digitest 5.0.1 can't see my cards (001 + Adaptec 2930). Mac Os 9.0.4, 192 Mb RAM. Everything seems to work fine. Even recording with 2930! |
