12% CPU usage and I'm getting buffering/DAE issues!
Hey thanks to anyone reading this,
I can get about 10+ plug-ins or 20+ tracks until I get a hardcore buffering issue.. and then I mixed all drums down to one Audio file, all leads to one audio file, pack the master with compressors and I get DAE errors saying it cant get data fast enough.. I have PTLE 8 running on my internal Western Digital 500gb with the PTLE 8 sessions all saving on a Firewire 800 (I hope its running 800) Western Digital My Book Studio 500gb. I have a powerful system.. anybody see whats wrong? I'm configured my system settings, AND my PT settings,... It runs, but it bogs down.. I only have the USB Icon, my internet con and the clock in my bar, nothing elser running.. whats up?? SPECS in my signature... DIGI official member please respond!!

Re: 12% CPU usage and I'm getting buffering/DAE issues!
What kind of cooling are you using? I was having the same issue with my Q6700. Turns out my heatsink was crap. I bought the OCZ Vendetta 2 with the retention bracket off Amazon for ~$55 and now it runs very cool. Still can't overclock much though :/ I guess that's what you get with mid end cooling though. I'm using AS5, but I hear that the Noctua cooling gel is the best on the market. Even better than TX-2.
If you want a super quiet heatsink fan, check out the Noctua's heatsink. It's $60 on tiger and is under 19 dB! -Jim Oh, sorry. Didn't read your other posts. Yeah, that sucks man. Before you blame the drive, you might wanna run some tests on it. It could be defective, or maybe just doesn't have enough cache. Either way, if it's defective, RMA that sucker.. |

Re: 12% CPU usage and I'm getting buffering/DAE issues!
hey fender I use a Fender Squier Strat Pro-Tone series.. the ones made in Korea by Cort... man I had it for 10 years (built in 1997-8) and it still rocks. ANYWHO
I have NO CLUE what cooling I'm using, or what it IS (fan?) I guess that means if I have NO IDEA... I must be using low end crap right? How do I test the drive? Funny thing is that it is MADE for audio recording from DAWS.. ridiculous! Maybe its not the drive, but I can't buy a glyph to find out its not the drive thats the problem you know? I get buffering issues even on say 3 tracks if I screw around with Izotope ozone 4 plug-in and click through the presets swiftly, it buffers out. My system runs at around 44 degrees, I dont know if thats good or not..

Re: 12% CPU usage and I'm getting buffering/DAE issues!
Does anyone think switching to Vista Business or Ultimate would eliminate the buffering?

Re: 12% CPU usage and I'm getting buffering/DAE issues!
OK BOYS I'm about to switch to Cubase if this keeps up!!! I open ONE STEREO AUDIO TRACK, and then a CLICK, and then a STEREO MASTER... hit ARM, MIDI is going OUT to my TRITON LE and BACK IN.... Hit RECORD BUTTON... HIT PLAY... its recording YESS!! 15 Seconds later, "HW BUffer issues, try increasing..." I'm going to kill myself here. WHAT should my settings be if I have a finicky computer.. as in, those options: I have "128bit" when recording, as well as 4 processors, and 90% buffer space. then below I was using Level 0, but I'm trying level 2 default and same results.. Cache size is LARGE.. where's the crying smiley face button?!?!
