What CPU/Processor has best performance for its cost?
Im looking to upgrade my computer,
and in doing so I want to go to 64 bit from 32, what processor do you recommend getting? I want power! I use LE so I need as much as I can get. |

I use a q9550, with win 7 64bit. It's plenty fast enough. I can listen to my mixes in PT, search the DUC, and still do file organizing. all at the same time.
Here's the cost scenario though, Intel quads, like q9550 are socket 775, and use ddr2 memory, so if you have mem, or a MB that will work, loads cheaper. If not, The i7 cpu's are screaming, and use ddr3 memory, faster busses (potentially) and 2 threads per core as apposed to 1. If your starting fresh thats the way to go. |

I've benn running Q9550 and Q9650 and have never run out of CPU power in PT yet. (in actual sessions)

Im using intel i5 2.66, ddr3 4g ram and it works GREAT ITS REALLY FAST
