Favorite general purpose EQ plug for HD
I know this has been covered on other threads and have looked them over. And I've demoed Filterbank and Oxford, but didn't get a fair chance to check the sony...and I need to buy a EQ this week...
So is the Sony still worth it? Or is filterbank serving most of your needs over the sony... Anybody care to chime in that owns both. I'm particularly looking for something the most "musical" rather than surgical... and I'm looking at something that can do high shelving the best a plug can do. thanks

Re: Favorite general purpose EQ plug for HD
the oxford is passable, but the pultec is the bomb. too bad it take up lots of dsp and has limited eq bands. I want to try the joe meek out.

Re: Favorite general purpose EQ plug for HD
I can not coment on pultec, have to try that out though. However for transparent musical EQing, imo the Sony Oxford is a step above Filterbank. Since I have Oxford EQ I almost did not use anymore the Filterbanks. However both are great values for the money.

Re: Favorite general purpose EQ plug for HD
Sony with the GML option is my main EQ (90-95% of my tracks). Filterbank is good, but the Sony seems to be more versitle and sounds good all the time (dial in a curve that works).
BF Pultec is not meant to be the same type of EQ as the Sony (or Filterbank, etc.). It's meant to model what the Pultec does, which is great for some things, but not a general all purpose eq. It's more of effect and is great for specific duties (sometimes for kick, many times for guitars - incredible on acoutic guitar, sometimes for vocals). It's really cool, but I would rather have the Sony and add the Pultec if I only could afford one eq. |
