Default motif 6 and pro tools 6.9 - remote control

how how how do i get the remote control feature to work?

i think i've got motif setup correctly, but how do i get pro tools to accept it as a midi controller?

is that in the setups > peripherals thing? if so, why are there only 2 things listed... HUI and Motor Mix?

any help would be greatly appreciated

I think you might be confusing controllers here.

Are you trying to use the Motif as a MIDI note controller? (record MIDI, play softsynths, etc)

or are you trying to use the Motif as a MIDI control surface? (start the transport-play and record, control volume of tracks, etc)

If you are trying to use the Motif as a control surface, you have a lot of work ahead of you. Pro Tools is only set up for dedicated control surfaces, like the HUI and the Motor mix. The Motif is generally a note controller and a sound module. It is technically possible to reprogram the Motif to act as one of the dedicated controllers. Detailed instructions about how to do that are in appendix a of the MIDI_Control_Surfaces Guide (you're on your own for that one, though, and good luck.)

If you're just trying to use it as a note controller, all you really need to do is select the MIDI port it's connected to on your MIDI track.
