Default DirectX and Waves.

Hey yall',

I have a friend with a bunch of Waves and DirectX plug ins on his PC, but they will not show up on the inserts or in Audio Suite. Are they compadable with PT7? If so any ideas?

Cheers,

Hands!

PT's pluging format is RTAS. Direct X will not work at all in PT. If the Waves plugs are VST you'll need the VST-RTAS wrapper from fxpansion (a worthy investment).

Cheers, Scott

Get the fxpansion vst wrapper, it's worth every time. Then go to VB_audioware.com and get the ffx 4 for free..it'll wrap direct x plugings into vst. It really works!!!

All Waves plugins have RTAS versions. You may have to re-run the installer and make sure that RTAS is selected as an install option.

it does work, but is unecessary for this purpose since Waves has RTAS support. if protools
is installed on your host, then Waves will automatically install the RTAS wrappers. if
PT wasnt' installed, you can re-install Waves once it is and it will detect the protools
directory.

also, while Fxpansion can wrap the Waves plug-ins using the VstToRTAS adapter, it
won't do so unless you force it to (at least in the 2.0 version) .. as it detects
the RTAS version is available.
