Default Simple Workaround for MIDI Clip Duplication Issue (2020/2019)

After working on a session in 2020, duplicating a MIDI clip on the timeline via alt + drag still randomly copies the MIDI notes out of line with the grid.

Here is an easy solution that alleviates the problem when simply wanting to duplicate a single clip section to another point in the timeline.

Simply open the clips list pane.
Then on the timeline, select the clip you want to duplicate.
By default it should highlight the selected clip in the list. If not, you can go to preferences and choose Editing>Clips list follows edit selection).

The clip you want to duplicate is highlighted & available to drag n drop onto the timeline wherever you want in your arrangement as often as you need.

Provided you are in relative grid mode, the selected clip can be dropped in at the start of the bar with the notes accurately duplicated in time so you can get on with your groove and arrangements.
I will note however, that this won't apply to copying multiple tracks of MIDI clips.

Hope this helps.

Well it looks like notes are still getting shifted for one reason or another.
So never mind my post.
Things are still getting altered when I'm working on a session. Painstaking indeed.
I keep having to double check after making tempo changes to sections inserting & cutting time. Possibly after unfreezing.
Sure enough notes are randomly altered.
