Default Intel 865G Chipset?

I can't find any information on this, and i know sometimes there are chipsets/configurations that DO work with ProTools LE/M-powered that Digidesign hasn't listed on their website. Can anyone tell me if the Intel 865G chipset will work with Protools? Thanks in advance

read the support documents

http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=22766

Desktop — Minimum Recommended Requirements
Intel Pentium 4 or Xeon Processor (2.4GHz+)
Intel 845/845E/845PE, 850/850E, 865PE , 875P, 915GL/915GV, 925XE, 945G*/945P*, 955X* chipsets with Intel Pentium 4 processors

the G means the chipset also has intergrated graphics which isnt advisable as performance will take a small hit but it should work fine.

Thought so, but wanted to be sure....the integrated graphics will be disabled and a Radeon 9550 AGP card will be used in it's place, so....all should be good then. Thanks for the reply

I ran this MOBO for 2 years and PTLE worked ok, however system performance SUCKED! The best I could get with a Dave C test was 32 +4, and that was with PTLE V 6.1 When I upgraded to 7.0 performance really took a hit.

After 2 years, I decided to build a quad. I couldn't handle the frustration and always compromising to get things done. Now I am happy.

Use the 865G at your own risk... it will be "stable" but you won't be able to do a whole bunch.

Hmm, just out of curiosity, what size processor and how much ram did you have installed with this type of Mobo?
I'd be using the ASUS P5P800-VM with a 3.2Ghz processor and at least 1024MB Ram.

I had a 2.8gig P4 processor, and 1 gig of ram, I also bought a digi apporoved video card too. I can't remember what else was on that thing, I deleted my hardrive that had my old system specs on it so I could use it for the new computer.

I don't mean to dog this MOBO, as it was "functional" but it just wasn't "great". I was pretty much limited to using a global verb, a global delay, a hand full of eq's and a few compressors. I had to really stick with the basics when it came to mixing. Anything exotic would kill my system.

Other than that I ran pretty much error free.

I'm just so much happier on my quad, those older sessions that I did on that machine barely move the CPU meter on the quad.

your comparing a modern server grade system to a 4 year old consumer grade system of course its not going to be in the same league.

Ha, that's funny.

I hardley think 32+4 on a Dave C test is in the same leauge as most "4 year old consumer grade systems" . (I should clarify, 4 year old Digi approved systems)

Again, stable system, but weak on performance.
