Default Pan Law

anyone know if the Pan Law on LE or HD is adjustable? anyone else think the standard 2.5 isn't quite enough? Also anyone know why digi chose 2.5db instead of 3db?

I don't have a problem w/ 2.5
compatibility w/ multi-channel panning if I remember correctly
