Default OMF or AIFF?

When you're delivering a post mix to the producer, do you bounce it all down to a 2 track AIFF or give them back an OMF or is it pretty much case-by-case?
Also, if you're delivering an OMF, I guess you bounce it all out into a clean session (with all your plugs bounced, etc.) before exporting to OMF right?

If its a simple stereo mix down, there is no need for OMF. Just give him an Interleaved Stereo file. Just make sure you talk to the picture departments first to verify how they want it to be synchronised, either with the Beep at 00:59:58:00 or to match audio file to picture length one.

I've done quite a bit with them (Silver Spring) and they've always been cool with split stereo AIFF.

It's in the delivery specs.

You must be referring to long-form stuff.
We just spit out promos which barely get QC'd at all.

I deliver my promos as interleaved or mono .wav. I can only comment in what the global deliverable says. If your producer accepts .aiff that's cool. Is still PCM audio. But as an employee I have to refer you to the Global Delivery Specs.

If its a simple stereo mix down, there is no need for OMF. Just give him an Interleaved Stereo file. Just make sure you talk to the picture departments first to verify how they want it to be synchronized, either with the Beep at 00:59:58:00 or to match audio file to picture length one.

Hey Michael,
Not sure if this is you making another account, but there's an account that seems to be spoofing your credentials and copying your post. Might be wise to report that account, if it's not you.
