DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
So i bought a new imac (2.0 dual core with 2gbRAM + 250GB external firewire) and i hooked up my mbox 1, installed the latest Pt with all the updates, and i still get this frikin error when recording a simple 3 track vocal arrangement.
DAE error -9136 ive followed all the system optimize, recommended system settings, suggested system settings posts on the DUC, sweetwater and the DIGI website and im still getting horrible performance. updated my firmware, faced my mbox east, and used my mac only during a solar eclipse or a full moon and still no progress. i wont even mention RTAS plugins in this post. if anyone has any new suggestions please help, or ill have to sell this pro-tools rig and go with logic or cubase. im in my office right now so i cant add fine details. but if anyone has specific questions about my setup i can answer them later on this evening when i get home.

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
Which port on the Mac do you have the Mbox plugged into? Have you tried a different port?
Also, have you updated to the v22 firmware? |

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
Yes i have updated the mbox firmware, and of the three usb ports on the back of the Imac screen ive tried the 1st and the 2nd (start from the left when looking at the back) i know on the laptops that the usb be port might be an issue, i didnt think it would be the same for the imac
i was considering upgrading to the mbox 2, or even the 003, but if i can expect more of the same its not worth the money.

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
I've been running the same system as you flawlessly.
The only time i encountered this problem was when i had a plugin installed that was not PT7 compatible. Regardless if the plug is in the session, Pro tools allocates resources to it on launch and thats where the fun starts. For me it was an old version of a PSP warmer that caused me problems. I trashed it rebooted and the problem went away and never came back. Are all your plugs definetly Pro Tools 7 compatible, take a look at the icons in the plugs folder, if it's are different it's normally a sign of a dodgy plug. Cheers

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
i do have the Native instruments plugin suite, and i have reason installed. other than that im running a vanilla install.
you said Pt allocates resources whether im using a plugin or not, is this why i get the same error when i try to create a new session with just 1 master, 1 imported audio, and maybe 2-3 mono audio tracks to record some vocals?? (No NI or reason plugins in this session) any new insights are extremely welcome

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
It doesn't matter if you're using the plugs in the session, if they're in your plug-ins folder when PT is launched then they can cause problems. Try temporarily removing the NI plugs from your plug-in folder (with PT not running of course) and then re-launch and see if you still get the same problems.

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
i'll give that a try tonight when i get off work and post the results here. i dont mind leaving the NI plugins out of protools since i use logic now when im composing songs.

Re: DAE error -9136 with an Mbox on Mac OS X.
i got rid of all the NI plugins in the PT folder, and the DAe error hasnt come up in the 3 track session i was working with. i have some people coming by today to try and record some vocals, so ima run PT as hard as i can and see what happens.
thx for the help
