JMS40,
THANKS for this link. It looks to be really useful. But, forgive my dimness, please tell me, so this is something that people (like I noticed English Jim there) contribute as far as presets for different plugins? And we can download them, and then upload them into the plugins themselves?

If this is common knowledge, forgive me, but this is great! I just downloaded a couple of English Jim's SansAmp presets, and am about to check them out.

Thanks ... Roy

Yep..
but the article implies (or states directly) that you should use the carbon mic element in the phone and this is not correct.
The carbon element requires bias viltage (it is a condenser in it's function, as soundwaves compress the carbon granules this changes the conductivity of the mic element) so the mod will not work as outlined in the tape op article..

However, if you do it using the earpiece it will work as described here.

PS Tape Op has a forum, too..

Hi Roy-
These are all user supplied presets.
Download and place in your Plug-In Setings folder.
I think this site is maintained by a DUC member...?
Just a few weeks ago we were invited to make better use of it and upload our favorites. Can't remember offhand who posted.

I read this somewhere...

"Telephone systems use a 8 kHz sample rate yielding a frequency range of 200..3200 Hz"

I imagine if you try to recreate this type of signal it just might work!

Dont quote me on that one though.
