HELP!! Pro Tools 12 - Audio Disappearing When Recording
I just upgraded to Pro Tools 12.2. I was previously using Pro Tools version 10.3.7. I'm currently working on a session that I originally created in 10.3.7. I'm now working on it in PT 12.2. When I try to record any audio, it records the audio...but when I hit the space bar to stop recording, the audio disappears entirely, and it doesn't show up in my clip list. It's just gone. What is going on? Why does my recorded audio disappear?
I have tried reinstalling PT 12.2. No change. Any recorded audio still disappears when I stop recording. Am I missing something? Here are my specs: Computer: iMac (purchased in mid-2011) Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Operating System: OS X Yosemite, Version 10.10.5 Memory: 16 GB RAM 1333 MHz DDR3 Audio Interface: MBox Pro Hard Drives: 5 total hard drives 1. Macintosh HD (1 TB) 2. Back-up Drive (1 TB) 3. Audio Drive (500 GB) - for storing PT files 4. Virtual Instruments Drive (500 GB) - for storing VI audio samples 5. External Drive for Komplete (1 TB) - for storing VI audio samples for Komplete Ultimate 10 plug-in bundle Updates: All Pro Tools, audio hardware, and plug-in updates are current I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks! Jason |

Re: HELP!! Pro Tools 12 - Audio Disappearing When Recording
I'm posting another quick detail in case it might help with identifying the problem. What's strange is that when I record 2-3 seconds of audio, the recording works and the audio stays. And I can find the audio file in the clip list. But if I record any longer than that, when I stop recording, the audio still disappears entirely. I have also tried using different buffer sizes in the playback engine, but that doesn't change anything.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks! Jason |

Re: HELP!! Pro Tools 12 - Audio Disappearing When Recording
What else if anything changed? OS updated?
What standard troubleshooting steps have you tried? (like the following in the order given...) Trashed prefs? Tried with a new *empty* session? (not a copy of a session, not a save as/in, and not from template). Tried creating a new admin account and tryign with a new session there. All plugins up to date/claimed compatible with Pro Tools 12? Tried temp. removing all third party plugin .aaxplugin files? Unisntall and resinstall Pro Tools. --- Make sure that you are recording to a disk volume that is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (not FAT-32, exFAT etc.). It is very easy to have media file elsewhere, so check carefully. |

Re: HELP!! Pro Tools 12 - Audio Disappearing When Recording
Problem fixed! I imported the session data into a new session, and now I'm able to record and the audio stays in the session without disappearing, and it shows up in the clip list. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess PT 12.2 doesn't like the sessions I created in the older version of PT because the same thing was happening to those other older sessions.
Thanks again for answering my post. Now I can get back to work! Jason |
