Audio and Midi record EARLY in everything but Pro-tools!!!

I use an mbox 2 into a macbook 2.1 ghz dual core running win XP under bootcamp....and this has been driving me nuts....
First off, Pro-tools seems to have no latency issues - when I record, everything is placed properly in time, but when I use any of my other software like cubase sx3, adobe audition 2, and ableton live 7 all the audio and all the midi is ALWAYS ALWAYS recorded early...which seems kind of strange to me. I mean I would think latency issues would cause it to be recorded late, but everything is being recorded early by the exact same increment every time in all of these programs. Also, in all of the programs, the audio playback doesn't seem to match the visual representation by that same ammount as well, meaning that if i completely ignore the audio i'm hearing and play my keyboard by watching the vertical line that is scrolling across the piano roll, then I can record things in time....
please help! I'll try anything. I should mention that when I use propellerheads Reason, the midi IS somehow magically recorded in time, but I obviously can't check audio recording in that program since it doesn't support it...sooo strange...I've already formatted the win xp partition and reinstalled windows and updated the mbox drivers and no change... Has anyone else had a similar problem?
