Default static noise on output

i was at church this morning when it happened. i played a little to warm up, then all of a sudden my guitar went badly out of tune, which is weird because i have a double locking floyd rose tremolo. i turned on the eleven rack tuner and was in the process of tuning when i heard some static coming out of the monitors. the sound person checked the channels and found out that it was one of my channels causing the noise. i power cycled the 11R and i still heard it a little. after some troubleshooting we found that it was my left xlr output that caused the noise. i ended up using the other guy's 11R while he played acoustic instead. thank God that i just loaded my backup onto his 11R to give him some presets. i was able to swap preamps without a hitch.

now i have to figure out what's going on with my 11R. any ideas?

every other jack works perfectly, so the 11R is still good for use as an interface or preamp, you just can't use the left xlr out.

craigslisted it. glad i have a spare. in my situation, i always use the xlr outs.

can the amp outs be used to to send sound to studio monitors? i know you can play guitar through it that way, but can you also play music from your DAW?

Amp outs are instrument level XLR are Line level.

Plug them in and see what happens, prolly be a little crappy though.

If you jiggle the XLR plug does the 'noise' come and go intermittently or is it constantly there? Have you tried swapping the cables around to see if the noise transfers to other side? It may be just a bad solder joint or a faulty cable. That's the first (cheapest) place to start troubleshooting anyway.

i tried the eleven rack with my studio monitors and the static noise level changes constantly. turning up or down the main volume did not effect the noise at all. my only option would be to crank the output level and turn my speakers almost off.

i checked with an authorized repair center and they tell me that when this problem shows up the only solution is mainboard replacement. cost: $250 board, $125 labor. sad. you know it's just one part causing the issue. but since i no longer have an oscilloscope, i can't trace the signal back to one part. i may peek inside and see if i can find some bad solder and fix it.

i also had no sound from the amp outs when using the 11R as a soundcard.

Why not use the "Phones" output?
