Default controlling PT track/mix settings with PC keyboard

Hi,

I'm new to PT. I've used Ableton Live in the past and one of the things I am missing in Pro Tools is being able to tweak mix levels and panning by entering the values with my PC keyboard, rather than using the mouse.

I find, using the mouse, it is difficult for me to, for instance, set the pan level of a track directly in the center. It always seems to jump from 2 or 3% to either side unless I spend a number of seconds fooling with it.

In Live, you can click on practically any parameter and simply type it in.

Can PT do this? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Click on the little tiny fader-like button next to the track output setting and you get more control. Then you can just enter a value below the fader and hit enter. Or enter value for panner and there you go.

But if you want to get a track dead center, just hold alt while you click the panner knob and voila. Same goes for fader setting, if you want it to unity, all you need to do is keep alt pressed and hit the fader.

And by the way, welcome to the forum :)

Additionally, after clicking the value number (highlighted) and while hovering over the output window,
instead of typing the value for pan, you can use the scrollwheel of the mouse to change the value (1°/scroll increment).
