Tech Alert!: 2.8.5/2.9 Firmware Download Issue (Faders 9-16)
Here's a quick heads-up for everybody. We've recently discovered an issue whereby the fader firmware download consistently fails.
If a you are running 2.8.5 or 2.9 do not attempt to manually download firmware to the fader boards. If you do force the firmware download faders 9-16 for any given module will be rendered useless. The only workaround is to downgrade the software to version 2.8.1 (or lower) and then Upgrade back to 2.8.5 or 2.9. If this is not an option for some reason then contact VENUE Support and we will walk you through a manual reinstall of the firmware files. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks, Rich |

Re: Tech Alert!: 2.8.5/2.9 Firmware Download Issue (Faders 9-16)
If the 2.9.1 update corrects this, is the procedure still necessary?
Can I apply 2.9 without doing the fader firmware, then do 2.9.1 with the fader firmware? We just received our kits, so I want to make sure to do the procedure correctly. Jason |

Re: Tech Alert!: 2.8.5/2.9 Firmware Download Issue (Faders 9-16)
Hey Jason,
You are correct. If you install 2.9 and then 2.9.1, should a forced fader firmware download be necessary, you will *not* run the risk of losing any fader functionality. During the regular software install process 2.9.1 will install all of the correct files to your system, including the files that were not included with 2.9. Hope this helps! Aaron |

Re: Tech Alert!: 2.8.5/2.9 Firmware Download Issue (Faders 9-16)
Hey Jason,
There is no need (or way) to decline installing anything during the 2.9 install process. The issue with unresponsive faders only happens after you've installed 2.9 and then *manually* forced a fader firmware download to your control surface. A 2.9 install alone won't impact any control surface functionality. Aaron |

No, you shouldn't experience the fader firmware issue with 2.8.6.
Here's the link for those who haven't spotted it yet... http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=394991 Thanks, Rich |
