Default Importing Acidized ROCK Drum Loops into Pro Tools

I enjoy importing drums loops into Pro Tools for my compositions. I do not enjoy sloppy drummers or using 10 mics.

Can anyone recommend a place to download AMAZING drum loops along the lines Neil Peart, Carter Beauford, Tim Alexander, Stewart Copeland, etc.? Lots of cool beats, odd-meter, loops with lots of percussion, stickwork, and nuance cymbal loops, etc. Maybe there is a great shareware directory that you know of?

Perhaps someone can recommend whether or not the acidized George Pendercast: alt.rockdrums, Discrete Drums (Vol. 2), Drum Tools, Mick Fleetwood: Total Drumming, or the Acid Loop bundle Drum Pack will fit my needs.

THANKS!!

Jay

are you asking about free loops? In my experience you get what you pay for, most of the free loops are just crap. But if you're looking just for good loops, Smartloops and Naked Drums are two I've had good experiences with/heard very good things about. Both have demos you can try before you buy.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean. I don't have that much experience with acid, I tend to do loops in PT mostly.

What I can tell you is that the Naked loops are individual wav files for the individual mics. So you have a whole kit, kick, snare, all seperate, which you can then organize yourself in tracks. If you are just looking for individual hits, there are thousands of those. Someone on the board mentioned the Drumkit From Hell, that's a rather popular one for one-hit samples.

Did that help?

Unless it has changed, Acid can export track-by-track, or a stereo mix.

I did a track-by-track (each acid instrument on it's own track) export once and imported them into a protools session..worked great

i just went to the smartloops website and on the frontpage they offer acid-format smartloops.

olaf - i think he's really looking for 2 track drum loops, not multitrack loops or single hits for a midi kit...

i use loops all the time. there's not many good free loops like the ones you want. there are tons of loops on the internet, but most are garbage. check out some of sonic foundry's stuff. they have a pretty big library and its not too expensive.

I have used Sonic stuff in the past but the loops are not quite as complicated as I'd like them to. I'd like to get a little more stickwork, hi-hit stuff, and intricate fill patterns involved. Can you recommend any of the newer Sonic Foundry loop libraries for drums?
