Default 32 track Mbox, when?

I know the dae is different on the 001 than the mbox, but I sure could use 8 more tracks. Does anybody know the status on the 32 track version of LE for MBox?

Hmmm, I kinda seem to remember they said that the 32 track Beta was only for PCI based LE systems because they shared the same DAE, and that creating 2 different versions of the 32 track Beta would take too much time, or wasn't worth it, or something to that effect, since it was just a Beta version, and that we could expect 32 tracks on the M Box in PT6.

Anyway, that's what I remember - but that doesn't mean that's what they said. I also have an MBox, and I had the impression that I would eventually be running 32 tracks with it.

How can it not be possible for more then 24 track playback? All the Mbox is doing is outputting the sum-total of your 24-tracks as a stereo pair. It's a 2-in/2-out box. The only limitation on the amount of tracks the Mbox would be capable of playing back is the power of your host CPU and HD.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I don't believe this to be true...in fact, just the opposite...it's been talked about many times before, with comments fm the digi folks:

Yes, I also saw Mbox at AES running 32 trk on PT6.

Remember you are not passing 32 tracks over the USB bus, just the stereo out.

I bet that the Mbox will get 32 tracks with PT LE 6 but in order for us to enjoy this upgrade we'll have to use (buy) OS X and loose our current plug-in collections too.
No thanks -B

Check my FilePlaya RTAS Pluggo. It allows file playback in sync to internal MTC (as many aux files as your CPU & memory can eat). It was never tested on Mbox. Check also some other free stuff at www.sonoria.pl/jk

Mbox XP (which will be available very soon) will allow up to 32 tracks. The number of tracks you can actually achieve will depend on your system's performance. Check the Compatibility Documents (which will also be updated very soon) for details.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hello. As you can see the XP version is due very soon. Since it won't be on version 6, I don't see why the Mac version wouldn't be available at the same time. Maybe David will want to comment, or is he only allowed on the PC side?
