Mbox Studio plus Mbox Pro together?

Even though the Mbox pro has been discontinued for drivers, I am curious to know if anyone has tried pairing one in preamp mode with a Mbox studio or any other interface for that matter. It seems to me to be a good use for older technology.

Hmmm, I have an older Mbox 2 Pro working on Windows 11, but if you are on a Mac, that may be meaningless. Just my 2 cents, but I would sell off the Mbox Pro(maybe pair it worth an old computer and sell as a working package?) and expand your Mbox Studio with something more versatile. Maybe one of the many 8 channel lightpipe preamps on the market? At the budget end, the Behringer ADA8200 works well and sounds as good as any earlier Mbox(just my opinion). At the high end, the Midas XL-48 sounds amazing for recording drums. Last thing to remember, even though inputs 5-8 are on TRS jacks, they have enough gain to record with most any dynamic mic(though an SM-7 would likely need a Cloud Lifter or similar).

Back to trying to use the old Mbox, I'm not sure it offers the kind of routing you would need.
