Upgrade from 7.4 to 8.0.1 ?

Hi,
I have an older Dual PowerMac G5 running PTHD 7.4 on OSX 10.5 (leopard)
It's running fine but I have a Blackmagic Decklink and would like to have native video out PCI. version 8 is supposed to do this
I tried to find an upgrade from 7 to 8 but had no luck. Is this possible this day and age?

I actually upgraded from 7.4 to 8.0.1, with no troubles. . . . but, I don't do any video work within PT, so I can't attest to that. You'll have to purchase PT 8, and then upgrade to 8.0.1. Do not upgrade to 8.0.3, because that is supported only with Intel based machines. There may be a CS update to the 8.0.1, but I can't really remember - it's been over a year since I upgraded. I sure hope this helps you.

yeah, I had to go from 7.4 (or was it 7.4.2csSomething???) to 8.0 and then 8.0.1cs2, the last version w/ support for PPC machines.

Let the software updater run and check your plugs for the current versions on first run. It will save you plenty of headaches down the road.

I was hoping to use the "Video out PCI-e" feature introduced in v8 along with my Blackmagic card, but it turns out my card is standard PCI and not PCI-e.
So I'm stuck at 7.4. here...
