Free upgrade to 8 still on new transfers?

hello all - and happy holidays -

I recently purchased and transferred an HD3 into my name that came with 7.3/7.4 ilok assets and software.

In the knowledgebase, I found a document "Pro Tools HD for Mac OS X Compatibility & Upgrade Information" that has led me to believe I'm entitled to a free upgrade to v8, the latest I can run on the G5 I have the cards in. Link: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...yWord=&Hilite=

Can anyone straighten me on this? my queries to Avid have resulted in "you're not eligible for a free upgrade to v9"

I'm pretty sure you're not eligible for any freebies if you bought it used. Important info highlighted in bold:

Recent Purchases
If you've purchased and registered a Pro Tools|HD system, or Pro Tools|HD hardware exchange, or "Pro Tools HD 7.4 with Free Upgrade to Pro Tools HD 8" software upgrade, from Digidesign or an authorized Digidesign dealer on or after October 3, 2008, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools HD 8.0 software.
