Default any good p4 board here? I\'m confused ...

As mentioned in the subject line, I'm confused. I'm upgrading from p3 to 4 and i didn't see any word in this DUC about a truly good P4 board.

Is there such thing?
if so, i'll appriciate some sys specs as well.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. All i keep hearing about is the Asus A7V333 which is AMD, well I bought the P4 counterpart which is the P4B533-E with Firewire and sound, but I've had some issues with it with the error that PCI bus is too busy, and the CPU usage goes up to 100% every time I launch protools, which generates the error message, but i set it aside and I have not tried since, I'm still using my Compaq computer with protools. i would like to get my Asus P4 motherboard up and running, but I don't see any thread talking about them much. Any one with some suggestions.

Try to get as pure an intel setup as you can. I spent months researching building an AMD setup and other ways but and at the end of the day it was so much easier getting a pure P4 intel machine. Don't complicate situation by mixing chipsets etc. It works PERFECTLY for me.

Dreamware, are you talking about the drivers listed on the Asus website or do I have to go to intel website to get them. Thanks
P.S any one on the DUC using the Asus P4B533 series motherboard?

Though a little slow by today's standards, the Asus P4B266 works GREAT with PTLE.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I've found that there's no need to install chipset drivers for Intel chipsets. Also I've found that Application Accelerator decreases performance. I would not advise installing these things.

Contrary to what people say. Installing the latest intel chipset drivers and application accelerator of www.intel.com is essential. Benchmarks have cleary proven that the Intel Application Accelerator is optimized for the Pentiums 4's data prefetching feature, which essentially anticipates which bits of data the CPU is likely to request next, and then transfers the data into cache before the processor actually requests it.

In the pt performance post i saw some fine results refarding the asus board but i also heard less good stories about it. as a pIII user i had my own sad story with the application accelaretor, so what you are saying here (dreamware) is that those eror issues are solved in P4 systems?

another 2 questions:
1) can these promise cards that everybody's talking about increase performance in p4 system as well?

2) which Intel board?
