Digi002 Firewire cable length & hubs
Has anyone tried a 16 foot firewire cable with the Digi002? 16 feet is the stated length limit for firewire cables in general.
Has anyone tried to use their Digi002 through a firewire hub to get more distance? I think I'm about to get a Digi002, but my machine room is just a bit further than 16 feet. Thanks! Dave |

Re: Digi002 Firewire cable length & hubs
To go beyond 16 feet with firewire...(actually, I think it's 18 feet)...you'll need a "repeater".
They are about 40 to 90 bucks. A hub in an of itself..just adds multi ports..but doesn't change the length limitation unless it has a built in repeater. Whether or not a repeater would interfere with the 002 operation...I have no idea. Id suggest you do a google search for firewire repeater and see if you can find a place that will let you give it a shot..and send it back if it doesn't work out. A repeater will give you double the length..ie...16 feet for first cable...add repeater..get another 16 foot max for a total of 32 feet. |
