Default PT 10 HD Crashes When Arming MIDI Tracks!

I'm experiencing a problem in PT 10 HD with MIDI tracks that I'm trying to figure out. Please help me, if you can.
When I record enable a MIDI track and PT's delay compensation is set to long or short, PT 10 HD crashes and requires a system restart.
If ADC is off, this doesn't happen.
What is wrong?
Here're my settings and stuff:
Pro Mac 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon
17 GB RAM
Mac OS 10.6.8
Pro Tools 10 HD
H/W Buffer 512 samples
Host Processors 7
CPU Limit 85%
No of Voices 48 (3 DSPs)
Disk Cache Normal

VI's:
BFD 2.3
Ivory 2

I just tried this on a HD|N setup and it worked fine.. COuld it be just that one session? (or maybe a TDM only issue?)

Try creating a new session and perform the same steps.. What happens then?

Unhappy Re: PT 10 HD Crashes When Arming MIDI Tracks!

I've been trying to isolate the conditions that are causing my system to crash.
It seems after I've built a test session, track by track with the "long" ADC on, I've discovered that when I insert an Aux send on ANY channel bussed to anywhere and then attempt to record enable a MIDI track, my Pro Tools 10 HD crashes and the Mac Pro goes down also. (grey curtain of death says I need to restart). I've removed all plugins and it still crashes under the same conditions.
If I don't have the ADC on, there's no problem. Why would creating an Aux send (mono or stereo bussed to any type of track) make this happen? (Only with ADC on!)
I've performed a clean uninstall and reinstalled Pro Tools 10 HD. It's still crashing... on sessions with ADC enabled when I record enable a MIDI track.
Please, any help is appreciated!
Thanks

Hi,

Remove BFD and Ivory from the plugins folder and see if the problem remains. my money is on BFD.

When you did the fresh install did you also trash the I/O setup. if you loaded up an old session it will load the old I/O setup, that might be corrupted.

Even in 9HD I now load the individual I/O setting imports before opening sessions from other studios. This take a moment but has stabilized a wide variety of stereo to 7.1 sessions. The mapping by itself seems to not fully be intelligent to primary system preferences.
Haven't gone to 10HD yet.

Thank you crizdee and DetroitT for your thoughts!
I did not trash the i/o setup when I did a fresh install, I will now.
I did try the testing w/o BFD 2.3 and Ivory II. It didn't seem to be the culprit. (I posted a note on the BFD user's forum but, nobody has replied)

That's not surprising.

FXpansion's tech support team, on their own forum ignores questions sometimes indefinitely. You are more likely to get an answer from Rail or another user.
If your lucky, it will be Rail.

If you need an answer that only tech support can answer, you should email them directly. They will still ignore your question, but if you keep asking it eventually someone will answer with something totally unrelated to your question. Yes, you read that correctly.

Not impressed with FXpansion's tech support.

I did exchange posts w/ Rob at FXpansion. They were unable to duplicate my problem. I sent them the crash log from the last Pro Tools/ Mac OS 10.6.8 crash. (fingers crossed)
My further testing revealed that when I make BFD 2.3's instrument track "inactive". I am able to arm MIDI tracks that are assigned to BFD at both short an long ADC settings. If make BFD active again, I cannot arm MIDI tracks assigned to BFD at ADC settings of short or long.
All my other VI's are performing normally.
Thank you again for your thoughts on this.

Here's the reply from FXpansion RE. my Crash Report:
SKoT_FX replied:
Crash is in PT10 code, before calling any of ours in that thread:

Thread 0 Crashed: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0 ...gidesign.framework.ProTools 0x00e9b7fc MFortressHWBPEntryPoint_exit_mfort6317_ + 7868658

2 ...gidesign.framework.ProTools 0x00ea9e94 MFortressHWBPEntryPoint_exit_mfort6317_ + 7927690

All other threads seem to be in a stable \"wait\" state.... we may need to fwd these reports to Digidesign.

Wow, are there any people left at Avid that would help me with this!?

Here's the reply from FXpansion Support about this issue:

"For now, please do not use Delay Compensation on the midi or BFD2 tracks. This may cause streaming/cpu errors for Pro Tools and BFD2. BFD2 is a streaming plug in, so additional processing such as this may cause odd playback errors.

Can you operate with it \"off\" and still produce music properly?"

I'm surprised that Ivory II doesn't have these issues as well. For me, BFD 2.3 is the "crash maker".
I found out that Avid cannot address this issue by the next PT 10 HD update.
