Default Pro Tools running slowly.

So I was editing a song and all the sudden it started running slowly and eventually froze up my computer. this happened 3 different times but just on this song other songs have no problems. What is the problem? here is my system.
Vaio VGN-NW330F/S laptop with
2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 Processor (2MB L2 Cache; 800MHz Front Side Bus)
4GB (2GBx2) DDR2 800MHz Memory; 8GB Max
500GB 5400RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive; DVD/CD±RW Optical Drive; 802.11 b/g/n Wireless Connectivity
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit); Processor, Memory, and Motherboard

Hardware Platform: PC
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
Number of Processors: 2
RAM: 4 GB
RAM Type: SODIMM
Hard Drive

Size: 500 GB
Type: Serial ATA

I store session on an external hardrive USB. running Pro Tools LE 8 on an Mbox 2...Oh and it does the same thing on my friends computer with pro tools on it and he is a tecky that has a hotrod of a computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Default Re: Pro Tools running slowly.

HD should be 7200 RPM. and you should have two of them -- one for OS and PT and the other for writing your audio.

Your file may have gotten corrupted.
