Pro Tools LATENCY PROBLEMS!! Issues anyone?????
Hello
I have a Digi 002r and the Emachines m6811 64 bit laptop. this setup rocked for my usual mixing/editing sessions that i would finish from tracking onto HD and mixing in LE. BUT, i started messing around at home with overdubs and song recording of my own and encountered and annoying problem. Even at the buffer of 256 and Low Latency Mode enabled, i still am experiencing delay. it isnt instantly delayed in the headphones during the recording, but afterwards in the playback. sooooo frustrating!i track a perfectly played performance and when i play it back over a drum loop, its roughly 1 second off. Is this normal?? Is anyone else experiencing this? Please share your thoughts with me DUC! Thanks |

Re: Pro Tools LATENCY PROBLEMS!! Issues anyone????
No it is not normal.
256 is still a bit high for a tracking buffer setting, will it go any lower? (on my desktop machine, it goes down to 64) If you could provide details about your session, the process you are using to record (cables, inputs, effects, etc etc), being as detailed as possible, someone might be able to help you better. (We can't tell you if you're doing something wrong if we don't know what you're doing )

Re: Pro Tools LATENCY PROBLEMS!! Issues anyone????
thanks for the reply!
i am using a 24/44.1 all the time. i set the buffer to 256 but it even sometimes hiccups at that. even if i just have a drum loop and a couple other tracked rhythm sections. so frustrating .... Basically i am tracking using a Line 6 POD PRO straight into preamp 1 via 1/4 cable. it sounds just fine while tracking but during playback its delayed. i have recorded other people on this setup and i always thought that their performances were just off. i cant think of anything along the chain to help this latency problem. i am almost ready to sell this setup. Is there anything else i should try???? thanks! |

Re: Pro Tools LATENCY PROBLEMS!! Issues anyone????
I was having the same problem with mine I also have a m6811... I would put a drum loop in, and then record a piano part and it would be like 9ms off. I was also using a PT template. as soon as I created a new session from scratch the problem went away

Re: Pro Tools LATENCY PROBLEMS!! Issues anyone?????
Create a new session (44.1kHz/24 bit).
Create a mono Aux Track and instantiate the Click plug-in on it. Assign the output to Bus 1. Create a mono Audio Track and assign the input to Bus 1. Name the Audio Track "Clix" and record arm the track. Record 1 minute of click. Disable and hide the Aux Track. Record Safe the "Clix" track. Set the Output to Output 3. Create a mono Audio Track and name it "Dest". Set the Input to Input 4. Take a cable and patch Output 3 into Input 4. Record arm the "Dest" track and record it for the duration of the song. Record safe the "Dest" track. Save the session. Put the timeline into samples and measure the distance between the 2nd click on the "Clix" track and the 2nd click on the "Dest" track. Check that the last click on both tracks is the same distance apart. Come back here and tell us how many samples it is. Also tell us your Buffer settings, etc. Also tell us about the hard drive you're recording to. Tell us which plug-ins are across your Master Fader. Rail

...or take this opportunity to upgrade to 7.0 and take advantage of the new possibilitys with the compensation plugin after having checked the delay implemented by you plugins...
