I really wanted this update to stop 9171's but no dice for me.
I did an uninstall. Then installed 10.3.3. I started with a fairly large session to really test it out (about 90 voices and lots of plugins.) I got two 9171's within a few minutes. I deleted tracks down to 20 mono tracks and no plugins or VI's.
Got 9171 after about 1 minute of playback.

Avid, what should I do next?

EDIT:
I just created en empty 32/48 interleaved session saved to my audio drive. Created a single mono track and hit play. I got a 9171 after 1 minute and 39 seconds.

EDIT 2:
I created a second session this time saving to my boot drive (I know). This session was 16/44 multiple-mono. Created a single mono track and hit play. 4 minutes without any interruptions so without stopping I decided to see if accessing finder,safari,itunes or any other app would mess it up.. No issues. I then went back to Pro Tools which was still running strong at around 5 minutes. I decided to shake the edit window a bit. 9171!!!!

Is anyone testing OSX 10.8.3 (Pre-release) and using it with 10.3.3? I have extremely large PT sessions and using 17 to 20 VEPro instances along with Avid VI's directly in PT, and I see the occasional 9171, (a couple every hour). Of course, this might be due to the amount of VI's I'm using in conjunction with huge libraries.

I don't know when Apple will release 10.8.3, but it seems to be helping with the 9171 error.

How's 10.3.3 working out for you? Do you see an improvement?

In the release notes one of the fixes is this "Improvements have been made to reduce the occurrence of -9171 and -9129 errors on HDX, HD Native and HD Native Thunderbolt systems". Hopefully we will see an improvement.

With 10.3.3, and after removing PCM Native Reverb (latest v1.3.6) from sessions, I have NO -9171(2) errors at all—even at the lowest H/W Buffer setting!!!!

Edit: FYI, an audio only session with 130 voices won't play back at anything lower than median settings—despite showing CPU(Native) at 10-12% at H/W Buffer 256 @48kHz.

Edit: FYI, in the above session, using an AAX instance of VEP 5 doesn't effect CPU(Native) 10-12% at all, which is great.

Specifically;
HDX 24bit 48k session 256 Buffer
130 Audio Voices
8 instance VEP 5 session, 4GB ram, 1 Buffer 256
CPU(Native) 10-12%

In a perfect world, I'd like to be at 128, but I can work with this, no problem. :)

4 hours last night. VEPro running 5 hungry Kontakt instruments, 4 audio tracks. Buffer at 128, 3 processors, no ADC, disk cache set to normal.

Not a single error.

My system drive 128GB SSD. My PT drive 128GB SSD.
