Smile Simple Question about merging "Grid" & Shuffle" Features.

Hey All!

Firstly I'd like to just say Hi, First time posting here usually just a browse/searcher. I have a general understanding of most standard features in Protools. But my question is about using Shuffle mode in a grid format.

Is there a way for me to use Shuffle Mode while engaged with in grid.
I'd like to do this so that when creating/deleting loops in a drag fashion with the trim tool my transients stay intact! (Things shuffle back and forth BUT to the grid.) Nah-wha-Imeeeean?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! >:)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Don't actually know exactly what you mean but, if you use the trim tool in grid mode, the way that you are talking about, your transients will stay perfectly in tact if they are already cut to bars and beats. There is no need to use shuffle mode. Have you read up on what shuffle mode actually is?

Hey Werner,
Sorry I failed to articulate it clearly enough; Thanks for your help.

If I do use the trim tool in grid mode. the transients with stay inline with the grid however, nothing will shuffle. (i.e. connect to the nearest audio clip leaving no space in between)

If in Shuffle mode, extending the end of an audio clip using the trim tool will not snap that clip to the grid. As a result the rest of my project will be not be aligned to the grid (after that edit point) similar to if I were to "select all" in slip mode

Do you follow what I mean?

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but if you press F1+F4 together, it will engage Shuffle mode while also remaining in Grid mode. Alternatively, you can achieve the same by clicking with the mouse on the mode in the upper left corner of the Edit window and shift+clicking the other mode so that both are lit up.
