Can anyone suggest a usable interface for PT11?

As per title, I would ideally like something with 6-8 inputs, actually the more the merrier! I have quite a small budget, say between $300-500. Sound quality doesn't have to be stellar. I know you get what you pay for in this price bracket.

I'm using a late 2013 iMac with 8GB ram and Mac OS Mavericks.

I've seen a couple, the Steinberg UR44 looks quite promising, also the Behringer FCA1616. The latter unit has very mixed reviews though. Will either of these play nice with Pro Tools?

Any help would be really appreciated!

I hadn't actually considered that! Will it play nice using the thunderbolt - firewire adapter?

Yes. I have a late 2012 imac. 003 on one port with three 500gig Glyphs on the other port both using the adapter. Others will chime in.

I'm quite happy with my Focusrite 18i20. But really as long as there are decent ASIO drivers available, you should be good. I've also been happy with my ProFire 2626, but it doesn't seem to be getting driver updates anymore.

I saw a digi 002 going on an auction for ¥10,000 (about 100 USD). It's unsupported hardware but worth faffing around with? Not worth the hassle?

The Focusrite units are probably the most popular replacements for the 002/003, and by all accounts sound better.

Take a look at the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 THat's what I use and the sound quality is superb!
